Rank/Flags/Insignia

There are many rare and unusual artifacts in our collection.  For instance, during WWI a unit of Marines was attached to an Army unit.  They were told they had to wear the Army uniform but they did not want to wear the unit patch which was a black shield with a 5-point white star with an American Indian head in the center.  They designed their own, a red shield with a 5-point white star containing an Indian head.

WWII Women's Air Service Pilot (WASP) discharge, flight logbook, and medals.  These women were civilians until the 1980s.  They often performed dangerous duties, as did our donor who flew towing target drones for the Army Air Corps pilots to shoot for practice.
